NTA as a daughter whos gone through this I never felt more free than when i got a haircut I WANTED. I use to have good Christian girl hair do. While im still a Christian I dispised my long hair... 😅 now i wear a hair cut that I love. And even when i got the short one my dad vouged for me saying it fit me more than the bangs and shoulder blade lengthed hair. Godbless

theres some kind of like projection mothers put on their daughters hair, like its an extension of themselves (the mom) for some reason, i believe theres pyschological studies on it (maybe? lol) but the same thing happened to me with my mom. I remember going to visit my dad for the summer and he let me get bangs and when i came back home my mom was really upset about it

The daughter is old enough to make decisions like this about her body. Hair grows back and she wanted this hair cut for good reasons. The only reason she is upset is because her mother figure is mad her doll isn't her version of pretty.

My old hairdresser was the same but after I gave him 2 choices and I was to thin haired for the long hairstyle then I would get the short haircut. He tried to deny me that but thankfully my mom said that I gave him my first choice but was told I couldn’t have that as it needed thick hair and my second choice was possible to have but I would just get short hair.
I’m very thankful that I myself got to choose as most parents or adults tries to live through their children or put there preferences on them

NTA!! Your kid is old enough to wear the hairstyle she wants, I’m sorry your wife is bent out of shape about it but it’s not her hair. Talk to your daughter ask her if she’ll have a heart to heart with mom. She needs to reassure mom that it really what she wants and please be happy for her.

This happened to me. I decided I wanted bangs and got them done. My mom sent images to my family members. My aunt was mad. I didn't understand why, but my hair's really long and I'm going to get my hair cut short for my soon birthday. Not excited.

NTA. Kids are not toys for us to play with. They are human beings, with their own thoughts and feelings and preferences. If his daughter wants short hair, she gets short hair. Period. His wife needs to see the beauty in the daughter that is more than just skin deep. She needs to be happy for the daughter, because the daughter was happy. She's not now, so the wife needs to apologize, give lots of hugs and compliments, and try to make the daughter happy again.
