I really like the ducks but I feel like the selling point is them being crochet! Maybe have options, just make some crochet ducks and those can be first come first serve, then have some of the plushie ones

Or you could just like, hire someone who will crochet the ducks with you? Instead of having them be made in China. Do you not have a friend who also likes to crochet amd needs some money or something?

I would consider instead making tutorial videos and materials with the kit to make the duck. Then sell the kits. You can sell each style and colour separately. Actually make your own duck. And you could even do “adult + kid kits” where you put in extra instructions and an extra hook and highlight the parts the adult should do with pointers on how to troubleshoot. You could still offer your ducks that you make personally, but make them special, more complex, even holiday themed. And charge more for the special premade ducks. People can save money and buy a kit or pay extra to get a special duck with a more complex feature. I think the crochet is what makes the duck so great. Plushies of ducks are everywhere. You could have two sections on your website, crochet and plushie. Sell the distributor created ducks but at a lower cost and let people mix and match colours or something. I just think the crochet is a solid idea and the ducks are really cute so by making kits you can really increase sales without breaking your hands. And when someone wants you to use your hands you get a premium price. Worth looking into instead of getting rid of the crochet entirely.
