A big milestone in Achilles rupture rehab is the start of different jumping drills. Typically, we will start with vertical jumping and more into the four way jump. It's important to learn how to absorb shock and to use the achilles/calf complex.

Throughout Orsi's Achilles rupture journey, she was surprised time after time by how easy it is to "not use" your Achilles achilles/calf complex for activities like walking, running, or jumping. Of course, you are technically using it, but the body can figure out ways to compensate for the missing calf strength. On one hand, it is a great thing, because it lets you progress to higher-level exercises while strengthening your calves. On the other hand, both you and your physio need to be aware of these compensation patterns, so you can work on optimizing them.

🤔 For those who are wondering, Orsi didn't have surgery! Non-op is an option, even for people who want to return to sports requiring running and jumping!
