Period poverty is real y’all. 16.9 million people who menstruate live in poverty and two-thirds of them can’t afford period products. (Source: Journal of Global Health Reports, 2021) The supply chain bottleneck is not making things any better.

That's why I believe healthcare should be universal. The capitalists will deprive us of basic needs for profit.

Shortages where I am show up in having one brand and not the other. I'm very picky about my pads. They can't have a scent. I couldn't believe it when Stayfree put a "light" center in all their products. They are all as stinky as stale perfume. I have to have unscented.

Hey. Look! There is a tampon shortage. How did that happen?

I disagree with the point that cis male would give free tampons even if we were to have periods but definitely would be cheaper and probably wouldn’t be a luxury item tho.

Cis men get hungry, but grocery stores don't regularly give out free food. Cis men get broken bones, but hospitals don't regularly give out free surgery. Cis men get depressed, but psychologists don't give out free therapy or medication. Cis men lose their homes, but landlords don't regularly give out free apartments. Cis men get into severe debt, but banks don't regularly give out total forgiveness while letting your retain all your assets. Cis men want or need higher education, but colleges don't regularly give out free education. Cis men get bad breath, but convenience stores don't regularly give out free toothpaste.

Honestly, I consider this pretty conclusive evidence — the experiment has been run; economics goods are not made free by virtue of being needed or wanted by cis men.

I don't understand why people say things like "if cis men had periods, tampons would be free" without bothering to make the case for that. You are just asserting without evidence as if it's obviously true, or as if it doesn't need evidence to be believed! But I think the evidence from other goods makes it pretty clear it's false.

Frankly, I wish that obviously intelligent people like you would stop analyzing the world through this lens — the extreme, ultra-progressive brand of the social-justice framework. It is an intellectual dead-end. It is an impoverished and often-ridiculous way of looking at world problems and people in need.
