Nina Simone, whose real name was Eunice Kathleen Waymon, was born on February 21, 1933, in Tryon, North Carolina. She grew up in a poor family and began playing the piano at an early age, showing incredible musical talent. Thanks to the support of her local community, she was able to receive classical music training.

However, due to racial prejudices, she was unable to attend the prestigious Curtis Institute of Music. Nina decided to shift her focus and began performing in nightclubs, blending jazz, blues, and classical music. In 1958, she recorded her first album, “Little Girl Blue,” which brought her fame.

Her powerful voice and profound lyrics made her a music icon.
