Up here im New Brunswick Ca we call that a red maple it has the smooth bark a rock maple has a lot thicker bark

I enjoyed the sneak peak on Mr. Horvath's channel today. I remember when major league baseball started going with maple for their bats because of Ash borer beetle. Do you think this would be good for baseball bats??

If silver maple, and the bark was dry, it would be grayish in color where If rock/sugar maple it would not be gray. But being wet it’s 50/50 call, but I’m with you Mark on silver maple. When you saw it up and the wood is furniture grade maple, it’s for sure silver maple, if light brownish in color it’s rock/sugar maple.
