You are exactly right! There is something wrong that she (or someone told her) that a โtune upโ would fix. Service writer needs to call the customer and ask (interrogate) what is really wrong. If they chose to insist on a tune up, oh well.

Warn people that is a no warranty repair. Part replacement only per cust request. Not responsible for any problems Pay for it up front, have them sign before leaving.

They changed it from the old 3.7 and made it so you have to remove the intake manifold to get the coils off... Didn't they ? And those smaller coils on the left are extremely agrrevating to try and grip onto with your thumb and index finger..... 1 hour later... Got one coil off..........

Have the exact same car right down to the color and model with the slightly less mileage,and yes had a tune up on it last year as recommended by my mechanic โฆ.runs perfect every day ,gas guzzler due to the 4 speed auto trans but otherwise great jeep ,

2012 and they were still doing waste spark DIS ignition? I mean, this system was pretty neat in 1990 going from a distributor to a 3 coil DIS system. But OEM's kept that going till at least 2012? Dang, never knew.

Umm, a tune up isn't just the plugs, it also includes the PCV valve, fuel filter, air filter, and cleaning the MAF.... even on today's modern vehicles my man. Usually it involves an oil change also, and can include the cabin air filter and a serpentine belt as well if it's worn. You're scamming people if you're only doing plugs for a tune-up dude.

My work Rav4 is still on the original plugs at 146,000 miles and it runs great!

Many people in the UK think their annual MOT test includes a full service!
They'll leave the locking wheel nut key in the door pocket ( for example) and ask for a certain make of oil.
They're dumbfounded to hear it's just a basic safety test.

Low miles for the year + motor is kinda clean. She probably rarely drives far or in bad weather and its garage kept. Even so ,im asking her if there are any operational concerns while i do a global scan of all modules and tell her about the codes before i do any work

At 66k miles, I'm kind of surprised she's not asking for a full service (spark plugs, air filter, oil and oil filter, trans and trans filter, transfer case, and differential(s) as applicable to the vehile). Then again, should I be surprised?

I brought my wife's 2009 liberty to jeep for a transmission fluid service and they told me that it has lifetime fluid. Is that true? It has 80,000 on it.
