The x intercepts are the roots to the quadratic function and the points where the graph of the parabola crosses the x axis.

For the y-intercept, you don't really need to calculate anything since the terms with x or x^2 equate to 0 and the constant terms without x dont change at all, and so that value is the y-intercept.
This also works for cubic, quadric, quintic etc. equations.

2 * 3 = 6
2 + 3 = 5
(x+3) (x+2)
-2 + 2 = 0
-3 + 3 = 0
y = x^2 + 5x + 6
if x = 0
0^0 + (5*0) + 6 = 0 + 6 = 6
