Think antidepressants are a game-changer for depression? Studies show they might only make a 1.8-point change on a scale of 0 to 52. Is that really enough to make a difference? Letā€™s break down the research and see whatā€™s really going on behind the scenes. Check out the full videoā€”link in bio. #MentalHealthMatters #AntidepressantFacts #MentalHealthAwareness

One thing that helped me more than antidepressants was a vitamin D supplement. I had my vitamin D levels checked by a blood draw, and they were low. That supplement worked better than anything else. You can take too much, so make sure you're checking your levels.

If you try it and feel better, it's impossible to know if you'd feel better anyways or if it was the medication.

To know for sure, you'd need to do a trial and see if your symptoms improve. Then stop the medication, to see if the symptoms return. Then take the medication a second time, and see if the symptoms go away again.

That method lets you know if the medication had a beneficial effect at reducing your symptoms.

Dear Doctor Joseph, you are so right. I'm currently fighting to ensure I don't need to be in need of care due to a change after the accident. on cymbalta tremor develops small fiber neuropathy, vagus disorder motor problems we can't calm the nervous system. We have tons of specialists and MRIs have been done. I may lose everything, lose my vision, no longer sweat in certain areas of my body. Damage to the central nervous system can you contact them somehow? We are from Germany. Germany has experts on it now from Switzerland.

My experience is that SSRI's makes you just dont care.. you might feel sad.. but you care less which mean you dont feel happy either.. you dont feel.. i got some side effects which was really tough to just be in.. so basically i was feeling worse but my body language would look like i didnt care.. inside i was a nervewrack but my feelings wouldnt show in my body so kinda like walking around like a zombie... But my surroundings would say "he seems so much calmer".. well who should find the peace? You? Or your surroundings?
I once heard someone say that you can first find true peace in the world when you find the peace inside yourself.. to find peace in you is the key to find peace in the world and whats coming your way..
And to me SSRIs are not helping towards finding peace.. what it does is it puts a cloak over your feelings.. simply feeling less.. and thats not peace...

They are without the slightest doubt effective for me, though only partially. Is it because theyā€™re anti-inflammatory? I donā€™t know. Iā€™ve known two people whose lives were changed for the better by them, after decades of pointless suffering. But I also know those for whom theyā€™ve done very little and many people, including myself, who canā€™t get off them anymore.
Still, their effects on me and the two other people I mentioned have been life changing and are not down to a placebo effect.
All three of us suffer from some kind of brain dysfunction thatā€™s been plaguing us all our lives. Iā€™d not recommend these dangerous meds for people going through temporary depression or anxiety.

Please advise alternatives for the whole eat and exercise regime, , clearly beneficial and synchronous effects, however in the mean time, how about those that canā€™t make the front door? With or without meds and no impotise to do so? What then ? Dr. Just handball it on to talk therapy I guess.
