It will be interesting to see if you can hack an old Encore with the new adjustment ring. I've done something similar to that with my Encore, using the Preciso adjustment kit to give it some fine tuning for espresso.

Assuming it has the same motor as the Encore, it's no surprise it's loud lol. I imagine the grind bucket on the Encore may have helped muffle some of the sound, now it's grind chute is open to the air and probably contributes to the noise levels.
Still I'm super excited to see how this performs! Not that many electric home espresso grinders in this price range.

just go it and it is defective, the hopper is not sitting properly so it doesn't hold the setting unless you apply manual pressure pushing down on the hopper, just shoddy manufacturing quality

For me the big selling point of Baratza grinders is their repairability. Unlike most appliances at that price point, Baratza actively encourages you to open up their machines to make repairs. They sell replacement parts for every single component on their website and provide videos on how to take them apart for maintenance.
But yeah they're hella loud.
