The scale and proportion of the ring glass is smaller than the globe ...if you used acrylic sheet it would be light, safe and can be made in large size ...

I dont know why you guys cant just admitt that it was a fail or a fail for now, no shame in saying well i tried and the video has to go out so this is it for now. Then try again with another glass or plexigless. Its a good concept and it does look good but it isnt safe. This is a diy channel and people go here for tutorials so its important to set good safety precedent. Not trying to hate but its more than just a crack in the glass

Why not using Plexiglas rather than actual glass? Plexiglas is lighter than glass, and safer than broken glass.
