While holding down the display button, press the off/auto button, then the up arrow, then release the display button. The thermostat should display: "VIP".
This is an Inncom thermostat, at the Waldorf Astoria. Should be the same at a Hilton.
These thermostats have a motion detector in the front, and shut the A/C off if it does not detect movement. Like while you're asleep. So you wake up in the middle of the night all sweaty, EW!
