I'm from Germany and that's something that happened here during the nazi regime. Between 1933 and 1945, a lot of people were murdered because of mental illnesses. And to this day, some people doesn't understand that it could have happened to almost everyone, even alcoholism was a reason to be locked up in a horrible facility and be tortured and worse. It's so important to remember, so it will never happen again.

It’s sad that even today mental health disorders go undiagnosed, and they still carry a stigma. My friend is in the military, and even tho they lose many many people to unaliving themselves they still don’t acknowledge or treat it.

As a mama of a 21 year old som who is on the spectrum ( Asbergers)...and suffers from severe depression and anxiety...( he's doing better now) .. and also my sister was a little girl who had severe mental disorder and she was abused ( i believe) in the 1960s at Fairview in Oregon...I hurts my heart that in those days that was a reality. Even today...people don't understand Autism.
It was a crazy time back then😢

Disgusting! That breaks my heart considering my husband has PTSD from his time in the USMC and my best friend since childhood has a laundry list of mental health disorders but I love her more than just about anything else.
Unfortunately, I'm sure that doctor's thoughts on the mentally ill THEN still hold true NOW for some people in and out of the medical field, including politicians and even people in communities all over the country and world. It's enough to turn my stomach!
