Ingredients :
тЦв 1 tbsp ghee / clarified butter
тЦв 1 bay leaf / tej patta
тЦв 2 medium tomato, finely chopped
тЦв 1 medium onion, finely chopped
тЦв 1 tsp ginger-garlic paste
тЦв ┬╜ tsp turmeric / haldi
тЦв 1 green chilli, slit
тЦв 1 tsp kashmiri red chilli powder / lal mirch powder
тЦв salt to taste
тЦв 1 cup masoor dal / red lentils
тЦв 3┬╜ + 1 cup cup water

For tempering:
тЦв 1 tsp ghee / clarified butter
тЦв 1 tsp mustard seeds / rai
тЦв ┬╜ tsp jeera / cumin seeds
тЦв pinch of hing / asafoetida
тЦв ┬╝ tsp kashmiri red chilli powder / lal mirch powder
тЦв ┬╝ tsp garam masala powder
тЦв few curry leaves
тЦв 1 dried red chilli, broken

INSTRUCTIONS:
1-firstly, in a pressure cooker heat ghee and in bay leaf.

2-further add onions and saute well.
also add in ginger-garlic paste and chilli. saute well.
additionally add 2 finely chopped tomato and saute till they turn soft and mushy.

3-Add in ┬╜ tsp turmeric, 1 tsp red chilli powder and salt to taste. saute till the spices turn aromatic.
furthermore, add in 1 cup washed masoor dal / red lentils.

4-Add 3┬╜ cups of water and give a good stir.
cover the pressure cooker with lid and pressure cook for 2-3 whistles.

5-Also add water and adjust consistency.
meanwhile prepare the tempering by heating ghee in a small kadai and add all the tempering ingredients.

6-Once the tempering splutter, pour over the dal.
add in chopped coriander leaves and mix well.

7-finally, serve masoor dal fry hot with rice or roti.
