On the other side: why would Fred and George ever look for Ron on the map? I mean like Harry they mostly used it to stay undetected so you only really need to watch out for Filch, Peeves, prefects, ghosts and teachers. So watching the dormitory on the large map wouldnât be of interest

My favorite head canon is that after Lupin was killed in the battle of hogwarts, the map stopped working because the last Marauder had died. From that point forward the only thing the map read was âMischief Managedâ
