There are quite a few models that have never been officially released in print by Benchmade. For the last 15 years I have been a Benchmade dealer (I dropped the brand in 2022 due to being over priced).
As a dealer, we are required to place a "qualifying purchase" once a year, regardless of how many knives we have in stock. This requires dealers to have a decent selection and also forces them to make a wholesale purchase regardless of stock.
As a perk to premium dealers, there is a unspecified number of a special edition knife that is given to each dealer that completes their qualifying order within a specific timeframe.
One knife is allotted to each dealer that completes this qualifying order. And THAT knife, is more rare than any gold class knife. A good example of this would be the 940bk-2002

Nice. Found a clone,original design of green 940 but in plain titanium. Bead blasted or whatever that is . D2 blade. More than ok with that.milled for/with barings .$50 ish. Bugout option too that looks exactly like that one. May or may not have butterfly.couldn’t care less.

Very cool. I had no idea that you could buy titanium scales from Benchmade. I purchased aftermarket scales from RIPS Garage Tech. I don’t understand Benchmade!

Prices are ridiculous on these just like the titanium bailout that came out awhile back for $600. Most places had to discount them a few hundred dollars to sell them.

From what I could find out, there are fewer than 100 of 940-2401 Osborne and between 34 and 70 735-2403 Bugouts in existence. Let everyone know how you feel about this!
