Salamah bin al-Akwa` (May Allah Most High be pleased with him) said, the Prophet ﷺ passed by some people from the tribe of Bani Aslam who were competing in archery. The Prophet ﷺ said, ‘O Bani Ismail, shoot! For indeed your father Ismail was an archer. Shoot and I am with Bani so-and-so.’ So one of the two teams ceased shooting. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, ‘What is the matter? Why are you not shooting?’ They replied, ‘How can we shoot while you are with them (i.e. on their side)?’ So the Prophet ﷺ said, ‘Shoot, and I am with all of you.’ (Sahih al-Bukhari, 2899).

Uqbah Ibn Amir (May Allah Most High be pleased with him) said, I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ whilst he ﷺ was upon the pulpit, he ﷺ recited: Prepare against them as much strength as you are able. (Surah Anfal, 60). (Then the Prophet ﷺ said): ‘Indeed, strength is in archery. Indeed, strength is in archery. Indeed, strength is in archery.’ (Sahih Muslim, 1917 – 167)

The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, ‘Everything (that) is not from the remembrance of Allah (Mighty and Majestic is He) is (either) idle entertainment or oversight, except for four: walking between the two targets (archery), training one’s horse, entertaining one’s family and learning to swim.’ (Cited in Imam al-Tabarani’s al-Mo’jam al-Kabir, 1785)

Atta ibn Abi Rabaah (May Allah Most High be pleased with him) said, ‘I saw the two Ansairs, Jabir bin ‘Abdillah and Jabir bin Umayr (May Allah Most High be pleased with them) shooting (arrows), until one of them sat down (because he grew tired), so his companion said to him, ‘Are you weary?’ He said: ‘Yes.’ He said to him: Have you not heard the Messenger of Allah (Peace and Blessings be upon Him) saying: ‘Everything (that) is not from the remembrance of Allah (Glorified and Majestic is He) is futile, apart from four: a man entertaining his wife, disciplining his horse, walking between two targets (archery), and learning to swim.’ (al-Sunan al-Kubrah of al-Nasai, 8889).

The Prophet ṣallallāhu ‘alayhi wa sallam (peace and blessings of Allāh be upon him) said: “O Bani Isma`il ! Practice archery as your father Isma`il was a great archer. Keep on throwing arrows and I am with Bani so-and-so.” [Bukhari]

On the authority of Jabir, may Allah Almighty be well-pleased with him, who narrated, “The Holy Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah Almighty be upon him, said,
“Teach your sons the shooting of arrows!’”
and the Messenger of Allah has spoken truly

“On the authority of Abu Qilaba, may Allah Almighty be well-pleased with him, who narrated, “The Holy Prophet, peace and blessings from Allah Almighty be upon him, said,
“Teach your young boys both archery and swimming.’” Teach your young boys both archery and swimming.’”

In Sahih Muslim, the Prophet said, “Practice archery and practice horse riding, and that you practice archery is more beloved to me than that you practice riding.”

narrated from Ibn Umar our beloved Prophet said “Teach your children swimming, archery and horse riding”.
