I play video games for the same reason we watch movies. For those awesome moments fighting a strong being with lighting powers or a giant dragon that shoots lazers and explodes or a big machine with a whole bunch of fire power. Also for the story to get connected with the character that you’re actually making decisions for and hoping everyone that you care about in the game makes it out in the end. Maybe to be connected to a game series for a while and it’s the last game. Maybe for those feelings of despair when a beloved character dies and the triumph of killing the person that did it. Maybe for struggling on a boss for hours and you learn so much that the run you beat them is almost flawless. Or maybe if you stream it’s a chance to connect with your chat as you enjoy a game together. Maybe to finally get to the final boss and you’ve learned so much in the game that you first try him. That’s why I play video games

Well…
I play games for the challenge, the story, and the fun of doing campaigns (and getting achievements)
I’ll always do campaigns on hardest difficulty (unless it gives you limited tries/lives) and do it without even trying to try the game beforehand to not waste time, and because I like learning as I go along because I like trying to spot patterns in enemy movements, attack patterns and other things.
I’ll for the most part read the story of most games with the dialogue, the hidden notes, funny remarks, or whatever else because learning how the worlds are is super fun (unless I’m tired or in a bad mood, then I’ll just play the game without reading stuff.)
Yada yada yada, you get my point. I like challenge and “torturing myself” as my friends put it. And there probably ain’t that many people that will read this, but yeah, those are at least some of the reasons

to socialize with friends I don't live close to. escape to a different world. forget my worries for fake ones with no consequences. to push the metaphorical boulder up the metaphorical mountain that is ranked rainbow six siege with the team mates being the thorns I walk upon and the vultures chewing me alive that is my anchors of teammates. ya know the usual
