I recommend a liquid glass screen protector. You may or may not have heard of it, but it works well for me. It doesn't create bubbles with dirt and dust, and has no camera cutout (many other screen protectors have the cutout, which is very annoying). The liquid glass protector I got is about five times more resistant to fall damage and scratches compared to other screen protectors, but if you don't use screen protectors until you have to in the first place, well, that wouldn't affect you that much.
Hope this helps!

I don't like using screen protectors either but what I don't like even more is a premanently scratched screen.
You can just change protectors whenever they get messy and still enjoy a nice looking screen. The only downside is that there's much more reflexions visible in sunlight... Still much better than scratches.

Applying screen protectors is art, you need to be experienced and patient, don't rush. Also, if you have an ultrasonic fingerprint sensor, only use gel protectors, glass ones won't work with your finger.
Here's how to proceed, the whole process should take 20-30 minutes
- prepare a clean surface like a table
- bring two bedside lamps / powerful flashlights
- bring your tools and obviously, the screen protector
- wash your hands
- sit down
- put your phone on the provided rubber thing so it doesn't move
- plug the USB C guide in
- prepare the screen protector
- turn the lamps on, one facing "south" (you) and the other one at 90° (so either "east" or "west") this will help you to see any remaining speck of dust.
- do a first wash using a wet wipe
- dry it with a tissue or something clean
- do a second wash using the provided alcohol wipe
- use a clean microfiber cloth and get the screen PERFECTLY clean
- now remove the dust using a sticker, be quick, don't let dust fall on your screen again
- once you're ready, keep the sticker in your hand and put the wooden card in that same hand, quickly put the screen protector in the guide.
- apply pressure on the bottom part of the protector so it doesn't move, make sure it's perfectly aligned
- pull the top part up, use your sticker and remove the dust again
- push the protector with the card, don't be afraid to apply pressure
- apply pressure on the top part and redo the last 2 steps for the bottom part
- Remove the protection layer, use your card on the edges and push hard back and forth (if you have a curved screen)
- done
