Why make it so complicated?
Just install a 750v DC overhead catenary for the non 3rd rail section and a pantograph on the train.

This is what the future of trains will be like with new trains built with batteries or upgraded with batteries that can help reduce CO2 emissions and to replace older diesel trains that pollutes lot more. This is amazing.
