If your with a good group of mates I always talk to their golf balls for the best outcome... Even though we are competing against each other there's nothing worse then one of your mates having a terrible game and then gets depressed and brings the mood down, the best type of golf is where everyones having fun.

I would argue that for amateurs, it's actually beneficial to do all of these things. When you're in a group of guys trying to break 100, it's important to keep things loose. Acknowledging other's shots, giving course advice when someone might not know the layout as well, telling your partner their shot in the rough would have been perfect if it turned over a few more times are all important aspects to keeping a optimistic mentality. Bad golfers do not want to be stuck in their own heads worried about what the other's are thinking.

How about when the group in front are clearly within your range of being able to hit them with a shot and someone who you don't really know says "you can't hit them from here". So annoying. Keep in mind too if you hit that shot you can get sued b/c you're now being negligent. Yes you can get sued for negligent shots. Like when you don't let the group in front scatter from a par 3. Or when you hit when you're not supposed to.

Humming yellow submarine around water is a lot of fun. Announcing the beach party coming up next weekend is a good brain seed. Talking about weight watchers and anorexia also set up some really nice shots too. Compliments about any part of a person's game is great gamesmanship too.
