It was noted during British army testing that none of the testers wanted to fire it twice!

When I was younger I was at the Long Beach Pistol Range shooting my pistols, one being the Webley .455 Automatic Pistol when I heard a 'kaboom' sound coming from the 50 yard range. I walked over to look at what made the sound and I saw a Gabbet-Fairfax Mars Pistol in .455 caliber firing. The owner had manufactured the proper ammunition for it and it was doing a superb job firing, cycling and was very accurate at 50 yards. I wish I had the money to purchase this one; I would love to own it and make the ammunition for it. It would be awesome.

1898. The year my grandmother was born.

Look at the beautifully machined lines on that thing! Incredible craftsmanship! 😎

As a kid I saw this gun featured in some old western and it was portrayed as a complete nightmare to fire and blowing chunks out of trees

A lot of people have heard of these thanks to Battlefield 1.

Technically, 45 win mag was actually first introduced in 1948 as the .45 NAACO for the NAACO Brigadier pistol designed for the Canadian military

Why can't we make new age versions of these things for cheap/reasonable prices. Remember when surplus army guns were surplus price, lol.

(Not calling this gun a surplus model made, just in general.)

That's debatable. The Mauser C96 has the same ballistics and was just as powerful as .357 Magnum, up until the .357 magnum came out in 1935, then the .44 magnum 20 years later
