Skypeia gets more and more relevant the further through the story you get, so many incredibly important lore ideas are introduced here

You can't skip Skypiea for five reasons,
1: this is where extremely important characters are introduced (the five elders, two of the seven warlords, whitebeard, blackbeard, also shank's inclusion)
2: this is where the vehicles that Frankie uses were teased, the technology used is introduced in this arc.
3: dials are introduced in this ark and if you don't know what dials are you're going to be extremely confused when watching Luffy vs Usopp.
4: the true world history is teased which is an important detail in the overarching story
5: this arc had some of the best early fights and you DON'T wanna miss them.

Literally skypeia introduces the klabautermann, usopp's power-up with the dials, robin's dream, and the fact that roger could read the poneglyphs!! plus it has some of the best fights in the series

A lot of people skip it mainly because it āfeels like filler.ā But that literally couldnāt be further from the truth.
Like you mentioned, numerous NEW characters that are integral to the plot get introduced as well as setting up plot threads to be paid off. Without this arc, which also gives you insight into Robinās character, makes every other arc afterwards have less weight.

when I watched Skypiea I found it was the first time I felt the pacing really hard to get through
but when I read Skypiea for the first time recently, it became one of my favorites arcs

I am surprised to hear that people say the Sky Island arc should be skipped. It had so many important things. I don't know if people realize this but this arc introduced observation haki in the name of mantra. It also literally had one of the Poneglyphs. If you did not see this arc how are you supposed to know how dials work and how Ussop got them? More importantly, later in the series Nami goes to a different sky island during the time skip. I believe it is a must to see this arc of one piece.

Skypiea is my favorite One Piece arc! I had so much fun reading it for the first time! The whole search to figure out if Sky Island is even a thing, the sheer joy of the characters when they first get there, the humor, the fights, itās all peak One Piece to me!
