Driving for fun: manual
Just going from A to B: any other transmission.
This: I drive a manual, and never miss an automatic. When I have had automatics I always missed a manual.
Shifting faster in a dual clutch or other high performance automatic is great- but not worth losing the engagement.
Some hypercars are so stupidly fast that they require a fast auto tranny. Still less fun than a manual in a reasonably fast car.

Everyone should be shifting slower. If you aren't on a racetrack, you don't need to shift quickly.

I'm really surprised that super- and hypercars got rid of the manual transmission. Sure for us normies, it doesn't make (financial) sense to keep it around anymore; most of us have settled for the "better" (but less enjoyable) automatic. But for such a niche plaything with insane profit margins, of course develop a manual. The whole point is to enjoy driving it.
this is coming from a guy who has owned manuals all his life, and currently has two manual Mazdas.
