I think many people don’t save because first they aren’t making much in their 20s. Then 30-40’s all the money is consumed with raising kids then college.

Many of my peers retired in their late 40’s or early 50’s with a net worth of 10 million or more. They have passive incomes or collect rent. Most of them had government jobs that pay 80-90% pensions after 30 years of service.

If my dad would have paid off his debts in 1992 ($120,000 in debt at age 60 when he retired with $350,000 in a lump some pension,) got a part time job and saved just the monthly interest that he was paying on his debt (about $200.)
