It probably because of a difference in the style of writing.
In Sumeru, we see the characters from diffrent background initially being hostile to each other before setting aside their differences to stop the Akademiya. Like how cyno fought with aihaitham before being stopped by candace.
Meanwhile, in Natlan, the cast are already friend with each other, they don't have any opposing ideas or ideology. There is no conspiracy or anything. Their only goal is to unite as one group to fight against the abyss.

Much agreed. I loved seeing Traveller at the centre of the story, and feeling like a protagonist.
The whole parade sequence was really really awesome, and seeing murals of Traveller around Natlan is super cool too, we've had a tangible impact on this place.
So many people's perception of the Traveller is askew because of the witness statement lol.
And I also loved how they portrayed war. Even though around you, all these horrible things are going on around you, you can still enjoy the moment and have fun. Yet they still managed to nail the hopelessness and despair war can bring, through Act 4.
8/10 Act 5, 9/10 AQ imo

I believe Rainbow Destined to Burn came a little bit too early, since it was such a turning point for the nation. For example, if we got to meet the flower feather clan, see the chemistry between Chuychu, Chasca, and their entire clan, including their parents, and how the people changed after her death, it would've made for a more impactful story. If we take Chasca's mother as a friendly, outgoing, welcoming yet mature woman turned silent and distant, and her father as a cool, collected, stoic type of man turned on edge, constantly worried about his remaining daughter, and how their change would affect Chasca in addition to her own grief, that would've solved her development issue. What it boils down to is we needed more time to get to know the people before such a big event took place.

STRONGLY AGREE!!! The reason I like Natlan so much when my friends don't like it, is because I feel a strong bond with the nation. Especially when the dead NPCs showed up to help the travelers in the abyss, I almost cried. I felt that the phrase "in Natlan no one fights alone" meant a lot to me 😭

honestly the moment i saw kachina i got attached to her and i love her interactions with mualani as well. citlalis story also feels super relatable and i really like her.
i feel like maybe kinich was kinda left out which is very sad, i feel like we couldve gotten more visuals/insight of how kinich and ajaw became partners.
we got to see sides of chasca and xilonen that we never knew they had but i wish we spent more time with them.
regardless, i feel like a lot of people completely disregarded the characters in natlan because of the whole drama before the nation's story even started, which is fair but I can see why some people would feel almost nothing for the characters at this point

the devs definitely tried something new here and there, including focusing on the nation and sacrificing the chars. everyone can like or not like natlan, as long as you’re not being toxic about it. that’s why i don’t join the community and just play whatever what’s offered to me. so far they’re doing it well, not the best, but i don’t need that.

My big issue with this archon quest was it felt quite predictable, there wasn’t really anything majorly unexpected, and none of our other characters really got a chance to shine here besides Mavuika and Traveller (and of course Capitano). Acts 1-4 made a big deal out of the 6 heroes being pivotal to saving Natlan, and then they weren’t actually physically in the final battle.
It’s partly due to Fontaine and Sumeru having such strong conclusions but Natlan act 5 was a little disappointing for me since I expected it to be on the same level as Fontaine an Sumeru and to me it sadly wasn’t. Which is a real shame since I loved acts 1-4

I feel like the biggest problem was that they didn't give importance to many characters.
Kinich barely appeared, Ororon only had relevance in one act, Citilali and Xilonen appeared little, etc.
Natlan is not finished yet, there will be another Fatui messenger, the Iansan tribe, the volcano, the story of the Saurian, four updates (except 5.4)
This could be good, but so far it's been bad, it feels a lot like the story of act 5 and the captain was rushed

Also, this was the only nation that made the traveler feel like the protagonist for once. Specially in the last act of Natlan's arch, we did a lot and we got a protagonist like recognition for it, so for me it was really good for that movement of giving protagonism to the one that it's supposed to be the protagonist.

In terms of epic battles, Mavuika vs Capitano is definitely one of the best battles in the game right now
