I was born in the fifties and fell in love with electric Bass but never really progressed due to a lack of music education. Today I am in constant awe with how much knowledge is available on YouTube and other sources. So many things that I didn't know that I didn't know.

In bluegrass and old time music, it’s the same expectation for bass as in other genres, hold down the rhythm. Connect the melody and rhythm. Just do that and you’re a hero. Play a solo and great, but that’s not what anyone really wants you there for. They want you to keep the rhythm happening right.

Thank You Rufus Reid for giving me a scholarship to the Jamie Abersold Workshop at the Tri-C jazz fest in 1989! My life may not have turned out the way it has… I’m definitely living my dream.
