I've never really understood fully the complaints about the initiative system personally. As a player I've always enjoyed the tactical aspect of never knowing exactly where I'm going to be in the initiative order. It's entertaining to me to always be ready to adapt to each situation as new challenges present themselves.
As a game master it helps me to manage the challenge of each session. If my whole group can go all at once every turn then they have access to their super combo at any point they want it opposed to having to carefully plan for it. It's been my experience that no initiative leads to the group steamrolling many encounters, eliminating most challenges with ease, and boredom fairly quickly.

It feels like it would make the game very “explodey” where either all the enemies die before they get a turn, or if the players don’t manage to kill them fast enough, they will get slaughtered. Not to mention no time to save people if they go down, since all the enemies go together, they can just beat a downed player to death before the players can do anything about it.
