GAHHHHH I actually love Nikolai's mom so much not just as a person but how well she's written. Like one thing that always stood out to me in the choke animatic was how she filled in that stereotype of selfish abusive stepmom but. at the same time she was so human? You can't be surprised by her actions. Sure it isn't justified but, literally what else was she supposed to do? She did as much as she could for a kid who wasn't even her son and who she didn't even have a connection with.

I don’t know anything about these characters but I do love it’s a “stepson”, it shows that other people can have a significant impact on kids even when not their parents. People tend to take good stepparents for granted.
