I think to have the most realistic look you should use both paper texture and brushes because in real life you get this different textures mostly because of the paper. You can definitely notice it if you try different paper, like one for watercolour and one for markers, for example. Theyâll give you totally different look with the same art materials and drawing

Feeling you missed the point. You just show the equally tools for traditional and digital. The idea behind Paper Texture is to get the Texture if you would use the tool on this texture. Example: You can achieve various resulst from aquarell paint by using it on aquarell paper or just printing paper. Also this is true for every other medium. Acrylic will behave diffrently on different papers or texture. Also you mixing Tools, Mediums and Technik. To use a tool like Sponge you can use the padding technik with the mediums aquarell, acrylic, oil or gouache.

yeah i get the point itâs just not the same. i wouldnât use it how you did, use a different blend mode, turn down the opacity and use a good big texture you can shrink down a bit. you can get some gorgeous effect like that. bc to make an illustration look like a pencil drawing is one thing, but no one wants to use a pencil brush to draw the paper. using a watercolour paper overlay WITH pencil brushes would be more effective.
