Goku understood pride, he just didn’t understand jealousy, he had never in his entire life been jealous of another persons strength, he just saw them as the next obstacle, as he always said, he’s just here for the fight. But goku was undoubtedly prideful, from meeting bulma to wagering every universe on a fight, that boy was nothing but pride and honour. He was proud of the lifestyle taught to him by both grandpa gohan and master roshi, self sufficient and isolated, he was proud of the very first beam technique he learned and used it as his trump card several times because of that pride, he was proud of his own strength more than any other living being, even when he sensed an enemy was stronger than him he was completely confident he could beat it, and if he couldn’t beat it his son sure as shit would, whom he also had pride in, goku absolutely understood pride.
