Try Christmas moss, it works wonders for shrimp breeding

I have the same tank, you just wasted 15$ you just have to get it out find the slit and then you can clean the sponge that’s in there, super easy 😊

You should just clean the pump, usually the impeller gets jammed because of algae buildup. All pumps are made so that they can be cleaned.

The intake on this thing just killed all my neon tetras. They got stuck to/in the intake holes.

It's insane. This is the exact same tank model that i use for my guppies

Low flow is not really a problem for the biological filtration. That metabolism is very very slow. When you are using something like sponge media, you probably want mechanical filtration, and there it is more of a problem... usually solved by cleaning the sponge a little (not too much...)

If your filter flow is low, it's mist likly just too much stuff caught up in thr filter matts.

Some string algae must have grown in the middle pipe

What is “day-bree”?

there was probably NO problem to begin with... you really do not need a high flow. the important thing is that the water surface gets agitated for a good gas exchange...
