I live in South Florida with lots of these guys around. Catching them is a blast of fun. I still have the scars on my hands from those needle sharp teeth during hook removal. They will try to slash you. Barracuda will go for anything that's shiny, including a wedding ring or pendant while you're wearing it.

If I'm not mistaken, those barracuda attacks on humans happened because those people were wearing shiny objects (such as necklaces and rings) in water, which barracudas likely have mistaken for small fish.
