"Scratch bars with some kind of rough stabby tool, install packing tape longer than that scratch so it looks really ugly, and simply install grips".... Got it.

nice...slit the bar then follow up with "..gently place the tape on". Good one

Isn't hairspray the ultimate hack to securely lock push-on grips, proven for decades? I use ut every time.

A few layers of condoms over lockons provide the same feeling and never get loose. Of coulse i use mine first then wash and install on the bike.

I use hairspray and let it dry for 24hrs before taking the bike out. Ive had to cut foam grips off my trials bikes because they were on there so tight!

Not bad, but way more work than I do. I take them off with a little squirt of isopropyl and then put new ones on by first "lubing" them with hairspray and then install. Let them sit a few hours and done.

Score the customers bar, and slap packing tape on, rather than using hairspray like everyone else in the world. Take your downvote and get out!
