If you need tape to make a beed of caulk look like that you don't need to run caulk. I could of ran that entire thing out in the time it took you to lay the first strip of tape.

A better way is to spray on denatured alcohol after applying the caulk, wipe with a silicone caulk tool. Need a little more? Wait until the alcohol flashes off, re caulk and wipe. Thanks SalDiBlasi.
