Many of us who keep reticulated pythons and have great relationships with them often have no problems socializing and handling those snakes at all. However, every now and then we may take in a snake that's had a rough life and is afraid of humans so we have to put in some extra effort to make those snakes comfortable.

In this video we talk with an experienced reticulated python keeper Steven who has taken in such and animal and wants to give it the best life by overcoming some hesitation from working with a defensive retic. If we all work together and help one another out when we can the reptile keeping hobby gets better, animals live better lives and we all become more confident in what we need to do to achieve these awesome relationships with our reptiles.

Hey, Tim. Just a quick question. Do ball pythons act differently during winter at all? During Summer, my girl was out all of the time. Now she barely ever pokes her head out of her hide, and when I was working on spot cleaning her tank, she bit me. (Does NOT hurt as bad as anticipated at All BTW 😂). She is still my Queen and always will be, but is this behavior associated with the seasons? Not so much the biting. I think she picked up on my heat, and struck thinking I was a rat. The hiding 24/7 is what has me concerned. I know most pythons do this, but she was different. Always out, and happy to come out, but now she's a big grump. Just wanted to make sure she was ok. Heat and humidity are perfect right now too
