My roommate adores the stuff and insists on growing it on our balcony. It baffles me but, well, whatever makes her happy. I'm going to stick with my fresh oregano and basil (and catnip for the furbabies) and she's welcome to all the cilantro. Thank you for the explanation, I'm going to make her watch this!

I love cilantro. Can't get enough of the stuff. Last week, I accidentally crushed a stink bug for the first time, after carefully avoiding it for years. I was so confused end caught off guard by the smell that it took me a moment to register that the only reason it's called a stinkbug because some (dumb) people don't like cilantro.

There are quite a few cuisines of food that use cilantro/coriander as a major part of its cooking!
Also the genetic mutation which causes it to taste soapy is in a lesser amount of people than those who don’t, and it can also be overridden with more exposure to it (even slowly and lightly!)
There was a great video about this recently but I can’t seem to remember who it was posted by. Perhaps minutefood?
But also nomenclature and such is one of those things that can be tragic for many different things! It’s a very loved herb
Though it does feel quite uncomfortable to me hearing “why you should hate it too” for some reason
