I don't know if the Vulcan was the "best" bomber, but it's certainly the most beautiful. Nothing but really elegant contours. Of all my favorite warplanes, the Catalina, the Blackbird etc., the Vulcan is quite high on the list.

I was lucky, when out with my wife on a dog walk in the countryside we saw the last flying example overhead, quite low, the pilot circled over and yes, such a sight. Amazing looking, I heard the Vulcan engine howl as a kid at a airshow, Duxford maybe. So, YouTube the sound, nothing like it😊

A long long time ago in Penang Malaysia we actually saw it outmanouver a jet fighter of the time at low-ish level. I remember the fighter being a Mirage for some reason but can not guarantee that.

I was ten when one flew at low level over my school in country New Zealand. Unforgettable! It was over 50 years later when I saw one close up at Duxford.

1978 Australia. I saw one of these escorted by 4 Lightnings flying over Binna Burra headed for Amberley. I don't think there was an airshow coming up so I had no idea what they were doing.

Remember living in the isles of scilly going from st Mary's to Tresco , a Vulcan passed us low-level 3 or 4 times . Most amazing site .
