Dog parks are NOT safe. I've done dog rescue for decades. I've been around hundreds of dogs of every size you can imagine. I have scores of rescue colleagues in my acquaintance. Not one of us would EVER take even one of our dogs to a dog park. Dog parks may sound like a good idea. They are NOT. There are much better ways and better places to socialize your dogs w/other dogs. A lot of people take their dog to a dog park and end up afterwards w/a dead dog on an ER vet table, and a bill of hundreds or even thousands of dollars to remember them by. It is just NOT WORTH IT.

I have a smaller female corgi. At 24 pounds, I only use the small dog park. It sucks because everyone else with small dogs bring theirs into the 30+ lb. Park on the other side of the fence. They all tell me "it will be fine, just bring her over." Nope, my dog is an intact female and I'm not going to let her cause a fight between two big dogs or have her get harassed by some American bulldog with nuts the size of her head.
Everyone thinks I'm being too cautious and she sits along the fence looking in to the big dog park. 😢
