Very true. I remember getting new clothes only on occasion like Diwali ,birthday .Loosing pencil eraser also made us sad , getting Cadbury was luxurious thing for us . Cake was preferred homemade.. those things actually taught us to value things and people..

I am from 80's and I used to save my bus fare(25 paise) just to eat that slice of pineapple and used to come walking 30min at home.
I never got chips, ice cream or thumps up, until I started earning.
I got new dresses on Diwali n birthday only.
No news school bag for 3-4 yrs.
My brother is one yr. younger to me and he never got new text books. And I used second hand binding books given by my mother's frd.
Etc etc etc
But still life was full of โค
No greediness, no jealousy only love n friendship n happiness all around.
I miss my childhood immensely.
