@kroil

Switching between a 540 PTO and 1000 PTO shaft can be a mess and a pain on some tractors, but the design on one of our Allis Chalmers 210 tractors makes the change pretty slick! What do you think?!

You forgot the part where you towed it to the dealership to authorize the software for high take off speed

Definitely a great design wish my tractor had that option, as long as you keep good grade bolts in there and snugged down I’m sure you probably never have a problem

There are 50-60 year old Allis chalmers tractors with that design, still going strong. Have several of them on my place

I like the German torque spec Gootentite

Starting with the 06 series International Harvester has 540 and 1000 RPM both sticking out of the rear of the tractor. No messing with snap rings bolts or any other malarky. Unhook one implement hook up the other. No mess, no fuss. That's brilliant engineering.

That's pretty cool and simple. Simple tractors are the way to go. I'm still using a 1953 grey fergy on my property.

Greasing the splines is a good idea too. Helps prevent corrosion and eases sliding the pto shafts on.

We have a case 1394 with exactly the same system. It's golden indeed.

The engineer that came up with that design really had his head screwed on straight

Some Unimogs have a dual speed PTO box that you can switch the speed with the pull of a lever.

Top notch design I'd say. Not unusual for A-C machinery!

Very smooth design! I've never changed my green one from it's typical 540 rpm

I love the smell of Kroil. Having the capability of 2 or more speeds out of the PTO is a great idea.

We had a 180 with that feature but no 1000 RPM implements so never swapped it. Curiously, the 180 specs don't list it as an option for that model but do for the 185 and 190. I wonder if AC quietly added it to late produced 180s or a previous owner did a swap (we bought it around 1990.) I remember the oil issue when my father assigned me the job of changing the PTO shaft seal on our 170.
