Hello everyone, hope you are all doing well. Today's short brings us back to the north...aka Canada. 🇨🇦 Although the founder and main writer/creator was born in Chicago, Illinois, U.S.A. 🇺🇸 Tom Lavin on guitar and vocals (joined by his brother on bass). Noteworthy - Tom also appeared playing guitar on the self titled debut album by well known Canadian rockers, Prism in 1977
Powder Blues were a blues/rock band out of Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. Starting out as a house band in a club called The Spinning Wheel, they achieved popularity and relative success in their home and native land here selling several hundred thousand albums between their self recorded and financed debut - Uncut in 1980 (picked up and reissued shortly after by RCA).
Following extensive touring, they went back to the studio recording the one featured here with the title track - Thirsty Ears in 1981.
Released in August of that year, this one has many fond memories for your's truly as a wannabe radio DJ in my junior high school as I used to play this particular track frequently throughout the school year during noon hour radio thru 81-82.
