Spinal extension (lower back)demand is less in sumo than conventional. It's hip extension (glute)which is nearly identical in both conventional and sumo. Sumo required more knee extension demand(quads) and less spinal extension demand. if you want to work more on lower back go with conventional. And maximum people will be stronger with sumo(but not all)
