While waiting for the new fridge to arrive, I thought about how fridges have only become a part of our lives very recently. Yet we have become so dependent on it.
When I was in 2nd grade, living in Thailand, I went to my teacher's house and discovered that she did not own a fridge (teachers are not paid well in Thailand). I was surprised, but it didn't seem to bother her because that was her normal. She bought/cooked what she needed in the short term, and nothing more.
So in a strange way I'm glad the fridge died, or I wouldn't have come up with this recipe.
It also forced me to eat/cook as much as I can from our small backup freezer because it was about to burst with all the things we transferred to it from the broken fridge. This was also a great thing because you wouldn't believe how many things I found in the back of the freezer I had completely forgotten about!

Been there. For us it was trying to use everything that was in the fridge and freezer as quickly so as not to loose all of it. We still lost about 1/2 of it. And as these things go it broke right after we went to the grocery store..😑
