I really like the āuglinessā of Mother 1 if it ever got a remake I hope they keep some of that. Iād like to see a remake keep the squat proportions of the oversold sprites but with better rendering. Maybe something between an HD2D or just redraw. Some of the battle sprites definitely need fixing, but a lot of them are solid as is. Idk, seeing Mother 1 ācleaned upā always feels cursed to me.

I beated it just the last month and I can say that it is maybe my favourite NES game. I would really love a remake.

They should do a total Pixel Remaster of the trilogy. Bring them all up the same standard of pixel art and add modern QoL. From a run button in Earthbound, to redone high quality music in all 3 games, to refined interface and battle mechanics. It would be lovely to have a consistent experience through all 3 games.

I agree. I love mother 1, might even be my favourite mother game. When you compare it to other rpgs at the time, like dragon quest, mother 1 looks incredibly modern. However when you compare it to other games in the mother series, then I completely see why it would benefit from a remake.

The issue is I donāt see something like that leaving Japan.
Only earthbound released everywhere originally. Beginning only on the wiiu I believe. 3 probably never will.
I frankly donāt see how mother isnāt dead outside of smash bros, but if a remake does happen, I donāt see how it isnāt 2. For a world wide release at least (without pulling Nintendo kicking and screaming to release worldwide)

Itoi probably wouldn't wanna remake EB Beginnings, mostly because people would expect a remake to have new content, and he probably isn't interested in doing that for a game he feels he completed 35 years ago

Right!? I would have to assume Mother 1 wouldn't be as grand of an undertaking to remake, and is also in need of QoL improvement worse than the other 2. If we want an English Mother 3 in any capacity, this seems like the logical first step imo
