It's not even the ignorance to vulnerability... It's an ignorance to your strength as a human, we can teach ourselves to survive in dire situations on this planet, we can teach ourselves self sustainability because of this world of abundant knowledge we built. Bret you changed my life and your message is being heard and shared. Bless you both!

Be like the dung beetle. When life gives you shit… be prepared to roll with it.

Years back, my daughter saw a book I was reading about societal collapse. She told me how sorry she felt for me worrying about all that. She said she never thinks about anything bad happening, ever. Well, guess whose house she came to during the COVID period? Yep. Mine because I was prepared.

I have not seen Brett for several years. During the Covid boondoggle I watched him and Heather every day, I watched him arguing with students outside his class when they hunted him down to keep him off campus.

Bret's insights have helped me be prepared basically from the idea that the human being's evolutionary adaptation is specifically the ability to adapt. Everything I do is building a skill that I expect to help me in situations both good and bad. Productive and creative skills like building and growing food, also translate into preparations and knowledge. I don't expect to garden my way out of a storm or flood, but knowing about how fragile food supply can be will always keep me on my toes.

Thank you. I feel it is being prepared, not being called a “prepper” by people who are clueless and completely unprepared.

I think for the vast majority of people Brett there's simply nothing we can do that could insulate us from such an event, myself included and I am aware. This is the reality for most

A wise person once told me be just prepared enough for disaster to wish that you had done more if it occurs…. that is, don’t waste your time and resources overly preparing for the endless alt reality scenarios thus shorting your real existence, but be basic ready for hypotheticals just in case.

Having just watched the horrible, tragic flooding in Texas, I can truly say, some things you just cannot prepare enough for. No one was prepared and now those most affected are asking why weren't we notified? Why weren't officials prepared? The hard truth- is the government can't protect you it is up to you as an individual to be as prepared as possible.

Over my lifetime I've seen a ton of people laugh at and mock the idea of preparedness or any sort of self sufficiency. It's a confusing sort of delusion to mock somebody that is able to survive an event you will likely panic during and die to.

I've learned basic survival skills- preparing for power outages, emergencies, food shortages. Home security. What food life requires, what stores nicely. How to leave my home on short notice. Or move if conditions declined economically or socially. The changes of the world will affect everyone. The wise keep their lamps burning. Prepared!

Agree. That's why people should "prepare" for life after death scenarios. "What if what is said is true?". Just a thought.

So every adult prepares for unexpected events. I mean, leaving a few minutes earlier than required for work in case you hit traffic is a microcosm of that mentality. How deep you go down the rabbit hole is a matter of your resources, neuroticism and your perception of the world.
