Humane language and concepts have easily gained a stronghold by appealing to all sides—for the vegan afraid of coming across as militant, they provide a more approachable suggestion to offer; for activists fighting for animal liberation, they give the possibility of better conditions, progress towards the ultimate goal; and certainly for the non-vegan, who now has a way to keep doing what they want to do, but feel good about it.
BUT, the entire concept of animal welfare is antithetical to animal rights. Welfare regulations are designed to spare animals any “unnecessary” suffering—the unspoken implication being that some suffering is necessary when it benefits humans.

It's up to us. Vegans including myself to step up our game and then increase our activism. The beauty of it is that there's so many ways. As and over the road truck driver I will create and distribute pamphlets that share information on all the reasons why we must go vegan. I will include artwork as well as resources, videos and books. Wish me luck

The thing is, what people don't realize is that using animals for food and for other products doesn't actually benefit humans in any way. But I agree, animal welfare is totally taking the wrong approach.

Sometimes a pig has to get their long toes clipped. They often think the vet is trying to kill them when he lays them down and does his work. They will scream and fight.
I'm thinking that might be a necessary suffering, not for the human but for the pig.

The intersection on how the system treats our most vulnerable is so pervasive. Humans and non-humans are affected by this sqewed perception that suffering is normal, and expected. This is cultivated, and 100% not true.
