🤦 TERRIBLE. Uncles in a woman prison. If they made a law where women who want be MEN had to go to a MAN prison when they had to go to JAIL/PRISON, no woman who wants to be a MAN would dare want to be a MAN if that was the law.

There are definitely female gang bangers in Texas prisons. Mostly among the Hispanic and African American communities. Now are they as common as in male units, not really. But they are equally as dangerous. Gangs like crips, bloods and MS-13 have strong ties outside of prison walls and can and do have officers and other staff members threatened and killed. The "family" dynamic amoung the female population doesn't carry on beyond the prison walls. It's simply something they do while incarcerated to pass the time, feel in control, and to feel more comfortable and supported. Former CO here, and current prison drug counselor.

Genuinely intrigued.. how do you avoid all of this? Or do you go along with it to feel safe? What if you’re a quieter female inmate? I always imagine they may get manipulated easier? Are there inmates who keep a look out for the more ‘vulnerable’ and take them under their wing (but not in a family type scenario? More as a mentor / friend)?

This is SO TRUE AND MOMMA makes all the rules!! I was always the baby! Hahah I guess bc I looked so young and had long blonde hair and all of my teefs!! Hahah. I didn’t want to be in a relationship but I was fine with being mommied and have my sisters/ bffs. Hey, you gotta do what you need to to survive even if it’s for 45 days!!
