I hate to be that guy but malachite is hydrated copper carbonate. (Cu2CO3(OH)2) not copper oxide (CuO) though it will convert to copper oxide when heated.

That’s so cool, ancient Egypt is one of my favourite cultures to study. The paint is so pretty too

An interesting fact about egyptian blue is that it absorbs long visible wavelengths like yellow and red, and re-emits them as infrared light, making them appear very luminous to infrared-sensitive cameras. It is so strong that infrared equipment can detect even invisible traces of the pigment.

a fun fact about this color is that its steadfastness is second to literally none, if u visit any tombs (particularly ones where people arent allowed to touch the walls..) the color is so vibrant and beautiful its moving

I always find these paint videos cool, and it’s pretty amazing how early people figured this stuff out

I think that’s one of the purest blues I’ve ever seen. It doesn’t have that yellow tinge to it or purpleish tinge.

When when you use poisonous paint on paper, what do you do with the paper after you’re done painting it?

Egiption blue is a stunning colour
I found squirtle when you zoom in the to powder and oil
Poplio when you said "the ancient Egyptians loved this so much'
And polywhirl when you mixed the white with the Egyptian blue

One of the latest trends in pigments are mylar flakes with dichroic coatings, which are thin films of clear with carefully controlled thickness. These films produce color by selective interference/reinforcement of specific wavelengths or colors of light. different from conventional pigments.

It’s interesting to note that it’s the most common color to see in the murals, even after the surface color is long gone
