The thing is, back when Junji Ito, Edward scissorhands and Persona came, those crossovers felt like they were actually done for a special occasion of sorts, they genuinely were an actual crossover EVENT with new maps, cool effects that excused the price tag and just lots of quality to the event and costumes. But now, it's obvious that they're only doing it for the money in order to keep this expensive fashion-show of a game on life support without having to do much work. I miss when crossovers brought cool maps with them that inmersed players in the crossover, but now it's just a bunch of boring skippable text that rewards 10 clues for reading it.

I was here for the last part of Junji Ito, that was pretty dope, we got Eversleeping Town just because of the crossover, but since I was a newbie I couldn't get anything, but I saw how things were and it was perfect.
I experienced Persona 5 crossover, it is still my favorite collab to this day, it was sooo amazing and fun, it brought something new to the game + the vibes were superb.
Then we had Edward's Scissorhands, that was another amazing collab, the special map we got was so good, and all they did was make some changes to an already existing map.
Then we got the Danganronpa collab, which was honestly pretty great, they introduced new stuff here as well(the SS tier items), we got dope skins, but the thing is, it all started going wrong here... in order to get the SS acc, you had to spend real money on the game, which makes it unavailable for many players, and the fact that some people can't enjoy the collab fully takes away from the overall experience.
Then we started to have crossovers more often, sometimes in shop for echoes only again, sometimes in essences, but we didn't really get anything memorable with those collabs, and they just keep on coming and coming. For example, with the recent horror crossover, we could've gotten a new map, since most people got literally nothing out of the crossover anyways. Right now we have the Kamaty Moon, once again, echo only, that makes 2 shop echo only crossovers like this in less than 2 months. We also have BSD, which I'm a huge fan of, and it's cool that we have an essence, but if not for their greed, the shop S skins and S accs should've been purchasable with echoes AND fragments.
NetEase is wondering why their player base got a lot smaller over the years, but they don't do anything to keep players interested.

Some of these old crossovers gave me so many good memories, and Edward’s Dream still remains my favorite map that will never be available again as far as we know. It really is sad how lazy and forgettable these recent crossovers have been to the point where I think most of us can agree they aren’t even worth more than five minutes of our time. It really has me longing for the Junji Ito, Edward, and Pesona 5 days that, despite their flaws, gave us memorable events worth playing.

I joined right around the time of the second persona crossover, and the edward scissorhands crossover, i still have so many great memories from that map!! it set my expectations so high, that now, all the crossover feels so empty. you could get accessories and pets for gems in the shop, get more than just boring graffitis from the essences (remember when they used to make emotes for crossovers? good times :') ) all the newer crossovers feel like a cash grab and the skins feel .. plain.. sorry for the long rant, lets hope netease will do better in the future

I believe the last BIG crossover was like danganrompa 2 tbh, since then it's just been so boring and honestly, it's been a cash grab, we used to get essences and now it's just echoes(I know some are for legal reasons but realistically we should be able to have a chance at getting crossover skins without spending money. we all know netease is a cash grab game like for example the stupid SS tier skins which shouldn't exist💀💀💀)

This is particularly the reason why most old players leave because of how the dev managing these events isn't that player friendly, it feels like those Fortnite or EA games where F2P stuff is getting less...
But then Idv still updates and adds in game skins which are permanent and can still be obtained via grinding. But yeah I don't know why they've got to keep putting crossovers when it's just like copy pasting the elements but with button eyes...

Netease Lost their touch with crossovers. It’s all about getting skins and completing Matches and events and that’s it. It’s just a cash garbage

They just put skins in the store and call it a day, I miss when there were whole events centred around a crossover not just “log in to claim 10 clues”, like for example completing missions, fun minigames, new content aside the skins etc etc… Edward Scissorhands gave us a map redesign or Persona 5 where we could upgrade the skins or Junji Ito which came with an entire new map and mind you the skins were free (fragments). This includes the “big events” as well such as the spring/summer festival, The Banquet and Chinese New Year. They just feel hollow now, soulless cash grabs with no effort put into them, its honestly sad seeing them go downhill considering how fun the game was in 2018-2020

Honestly, if their goal was to bring more people to the game with crossovers, making stuff be locked behind a payment wall isn't gonna do the trick. I stopped playing as much as I used to and these crossovers aren't gonna make me wanna go back because it's not even fun to get the little free stuff they offer anymore. Crossovers and events are supposed to change the normal kind of playstyle but not anymore... as you say, they're doing the same for 10 clues and if you want the skin, your credit card information is welcomed to join.
In other games, having stuff behind a wall of payment is allowed for a certain time and then they make it avaliable for people to get it, sims (cc), dead by daylight and even making sales, idv nowadays is you get to play for free with a shitty ping and now also shitty skins because the nice ones are as expensive as 5 months of groceries :_Percified: ETA: Idv could make some echoes only skins that have been in game for over a year to be able to be bought with fragments, it takes a while to get them anyway, for example and also I just received the notification for this short for some reason 😂😂

another negative point is that idv is one of the few games in which the crossovers are time limited, meaning that even if previous crossovers like p5 and junji ito where great and give a lot of content, the current playerbase never have tan option to experience this kinds of events and the skins. just like me:(

true they force us to play.. i couldn't get the Alexander cat pet bcs i literally had no motivation to play ESPECIALLY rank matches bruh... they also make for the 1 to 5 same characters skins which you know its lame :'/ also most of us are f2p aint no way to pay idk how much for a S tier skin crying for Crow

They made eversleeping for Junji itto and Bonbon was created entirely for Monokuma. Older crossover skins, like the persona 5 ones had so much soul, while the new ones feel kinda lifeless and expensive in comparison. Not to mention that you could buy pets and accs from crossovers with fragments!
